Tessa L. Vanvlerah, aged 22, has been diagnosed with a “dependent-personality disorder” by Dr. Brooke Kraushaar, which is believed to have lead Vanvlerah to allow a 49-year-old Californian professor to have sex with herself, as well as her five-month-old daughter.
Tessa Vanvlerah and Kenneth Kyle spoke online and met four times throughout a five month course. During this time, both parties took part in raping the five-month-old child and according to reports by Dr. Kraushaar, Vanvlerah’s fear of rejection was to such an extreme that she even allowed Kyle to choke, burn and urinate on her.
The pair shared pornographic images and videos, and even posed in photographs themselves with Vanvlerah’s daughter. The young girls father is said to be a 16-year-old (in 2008) boy with Autism, who currently has an order of protection against Vanvlerah as she was accused of seducing and having sex with him.
As if there wasn’t enough horror to this story, Tessa Vanvlerah also spoke online with another man, who sent her child pornography, and provided him with an invitation to have sex with her infant as well.
Now 3-years-old, the daughter has been placed in a foster home, who later adopted her. It is said that she continues to experience night terrors, asking for reassurance that no one will enter the home and screams with panic when anyone attempts to bath or change her diaper.
The girls’ adoptive mother claims that she is well off, doing better with each passing day, and with tears says,
“[she] is no longer Tessa’s plaything and she is no longer Tessa’s child.”
After pleading guilty to abuse of an infant during several occasions in 2009, Kyle has been sentenced to 37-and-a-half years in prison. Vanvlerah, who also admitted to her crimes of consciously allowing her daughter to be raped by Kyle and herself, has been given two consecutive life sentences without probation on May 1st, 2012. She has been charged with first-degree statutory rape and sodomy, as well as incest and child pornography – although she knows what she has done is wrong.
