Dandelion Tea – A Cure For Cancer.

John DiCarlo, aged 72, was diagnosed with leukemia three years ago and sent to the hospital where he would undergo aggressive treatment. After all treatments had failed, Mr. DiCarlo was sent home to tend to his affairs with a suggestion from the cancer clinic to try “dandelion tea”.

Four months after returning home and drinking the suggested tea, the clinic found that DiCarlo had went into remission. Since then, he has been cancer free.

Local oncologist, Dr. Caroline Hamm, approached Siyaram Pandey, a biochemist at the University of Windsor, with evidence that cancer patients consuming dandelion tea seemed to be getting better.

“To be honest I was very pessimistic,” Pandey said in a statement. “She said it could be conincidental but it couldn’t hurt to see if there is anything.”

Hamm was convinced that the weed contained an active ingredient, but warned earlier this year that “it can harm as well as benefit”. And so, Pandey and his team of researchers in Windsor, Ontario (Canada), continue their research on the dandelion root extract and its’ effectiveness on fighting cancer. They have recently been approved for another grant, leading them to a total of $217, 000 to aid their findings (initial test results landed a grant of $60, 000 from Seeds4Hope, and now Lotte and John Hecht Memorial Foundation has approved $157, 000).

Their research showed that the root extract from the dandelion forced a very aggressive and drug-resistant type of blood cancer cell, known as chronic monocytic myeloid leukemia, to essentially commit suicide – a process called apoptosis. With the aid of repeated treatments of a low dosage of dandelion root extract, it proved to kill most cancerous cells.

“It was startling, but it was not that startling until we saw that it was non-toxic to the normal cells.” Pandey said.

John DiCarlo’s doctor credits the dandelion tea for his recovery and continued cancer free life.

“You are doing pretty good, you aren’t a sick man anymore.” a statement made to DiCarlo made by his doctor.
